Memory, Concentration

Memory and Concentration Health Concerns:

We tend to take our memory for granted, we know it’s there, just like we know we are going to take our next breath. We rarely think about this natural ability we have unless we perceive that we are losing this ability. It is one thing to have memory lapses, they are rather an annoyance in themselves, but what is worse, is the anxiety that is often associated with them. One of the greatest anxieties or fears provoked by lapses in memory, is that of Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive and debilitating disease that usually starts in midlife with minor defects in memory and behaviour. Although it can be a rather common disorder among older people, it is important to stress that most memory lapses have nothing to do with Alzheimer’s disease.

We have come to expect that, as we age, our ability to remember will begin to deteriorate; that our powers of recall will diminish. This is not necessarily so. Our ability to recall information is practically not influenced by the aging process. Periodic memory lapses are a normal, natural part of life at virtually any age, but the memory should remain sharp and active through a proper diet and nutrition, and this, well into our nineties and beyond.

One of the indicators that a person is suffering from memory loss is an insufficient supply of necessary nutrients to the brain. Blood is what carries life in the body. Every cell within our bodies is fed and nourished by it. The brain has a protective envelope surrounding it that allows only certain substances from the bloodstream to reach it. Should the blood be considered “thick” with cholesterol and triglycerides, the amount of proper nutrient-rich blood that can get through the protective envelope decreases. With time, the brain can become malnourished. This is where natural brain supplements can play a supportive role.

Exposure to free radicals, nutritional deficiencies such as B vitamins and amino acids, alcohol and drugs are all among numerous factors involved in the deterioration of memory. Other contributing factors may be, allergies, candidiasis, stress, thyroid disorders, exposure to EMFs and poor circulation to the brain. In order to function properly, the brain requires that the level of glucose in the blood fall within a very specific narrow range. People suffering from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), can suffer from loss of memory as well.

Recommendations:

  • Try natural brain supplements such as Herbs Etc Remember Now and Vibrant Energy
  • Follow a raw food diet
  • Avoid dairy and wheat products as well as refined sugars
  • Bee pollen may be helpful (employ caution if allergic)
  • Attitude and approach are key in having a good memory. Our motivation to continue remembering things as we grow older, is probably the largest factor on the effect on keeping our memory, rather than our ability to remember.
