Respiratory health concerns:

The respiratory system exchanges gases by means of carbon dioxide. The usual symptoms for respiratory disorders are: runny nose, sneezing, cough, shortness of breath. When there is a dry cough, it usually means an irritation of the mucus membranes. A wet cough can mean the presence of secretions in the respiratory tree.

Asthma – a condition brought on by a spasm of the bronchial tree with shortness of breath, dry irritating, tickling cough, possible chest tightness, laboured breathing, and wheezing. A number of allergens (dust, pollen, house pets etc.) are a source.

Some recommendations:

  • Avoid smoking or proximity to any smoke, dust, keep mattresses clean
  • Identify food allergies
  • Low stomach acid and malabsorption
  • Try vitamin C with bioflavonoids, magnesium, vitamin A
  • Hot fluids can help during an asthma episode, as well as increasing water intake to help cough out the mucus
  • Breathing supplements such as herbal extracts  Herbs Etc line of products suggested for respiratory conditions  (Lung Tonic, Respiratonic, Phytocillin, Lorival, ChlorOxygen)
  • Increase consumption of onions, garlic and flax seeds
  • Essential oils like chamomile, thyme, pine, fir, eucalyptus, lavender, through steam inhalation or in a bath
