Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid produced in the body from linoleic acid (LA), an essential fatty acid. Although a high ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is thought to cause inflammation, supplementation with GLA has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
