Understanding the importance of collagen is one thing but choosing the right supplement is another.
Vitamin D3: The Sunshine Vitamin
Did you know that a staggering number of people worldwide are deficient in Vitamin D3? This deficiency can lead to a cascade of health issues. Here’s why Vitamin D3 is so crucial:
Bone Health: Without sufficient Vitamin D3, your body struggles to absorb calcium efficiently. This deficiency can result in weakened bones, making you more susceptible to fractures and osteoporosis.
Mood Booster: Many people experience a drop in mood during the dark months of the year. The lack of sunlight decreases Vitamin D3 production, potentially contributing to feelings of sadness and lethargy.
Immune Support: A robust immune system is vital, especially in today’s world. Vitamin D3 plays a pivotal role in immune function, helping your body fend off infections and diseases.
Vitamin K2: The Bone and Heart Helper
Vitamin K2 deficiency is also common but often goes unnoticed. Here’s why it’s essential:
Bone Health: When Vitamin K2 is deficient, calcium may end up in the wrong places, like your arteries and soft tissues, instead of your bones. This can have detrimental effects on bone density and strength.
❤️ Heart Health: Arterial calcification is a significant risk factor for heart disease. Vitamin K2 helps prevent this by ensuring calcium is directed to your bones and not your arteries.
Oral Health: Your oral health is a window into your overall well-being. Vitamin K2 contributes to strong teeth and gums by regulating calcium utilization.
Given these critical roles of Vitamin D3 and K2 in your health, it’s alarming to note that the vast majority of people are deficient in these essential nutrients. Modern lifestyles, indoor jobs, and limited sun exposure are just some of the factors contributing to these deficiencies.
Our Vitamin K2 as MenaQ7® PRO (MK-7), exclusively available from Ortho:
- Contains 595 drops with a favorable ratio of 1000 IU D3 and 10mcg K2
- Is backed by extensive research with proven outcomes in more than 30 clinical trials
- Is purified to contain only the active molecules
- Exclusive to practitioners
I am often asked about the MK-7 form vs the MK-4 form in terms of efficacy and absorption. It should be understood that there are 3 forms of vitamin K used in the market: K1, MK-4 and MK-7. The advantage with MK-7 is that it is able to bind to fat particles with its long side chains, which greatly facilitates circulation. Additionally, MK-7 is the only form with a half-life of around 3-4 days. The other forms have half-lives below 8 hours.
