Healthy Chinese Fondue Broth Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 litres of water
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, cut into slices
- 2 stalks of celery, sliced
- 1 piece of fresh ginger (about 5 cm), peeled and sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 1 piece of kombu (dried seaweed) or another seaweed of your choice (optional for additional minerals)
- 1 small bunch of fresh parsley or coriander
- Sea salt and black pepper to taste
- Spices of your choice (e.g. star anise, cinnamon sticks, fennel seeds) for added flavor
Instructions:
- Place all ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
- Simmer for at least 1 hour to allow the flavours to fully develop.
- Strain the broth to remove pieces of vegetables and spices.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve hot as a base for your Chinese fondue.
